Unusual Props For Creative Christmas Trees

You know the saying... Desperation breeds innovation! I decorate trees for a living and I'm constantly challenged to come up with props or items that will really set the theme. Here's a few idea's that are sure to inspire you!
I almost never use a star or angel in my designer trees... unless it's spectacular! All my trees have very definitive themes... like this farm tree topper... a pitch fork and a rusty old chicken-pig-cow cut-out.
I've done a lot of snowman trees over the years... this year though I didn't have a large head OR a white tree to work with. A paper lantern and some pompoms did the trick!
This tree is a hit with the community I live in... Langley is farm country and I love to hear peoples expressions when they see this tree. Chicken wire was used instead of ribbon, rafia was cut for hay-look-a-like pompoms, and old milk cans were wired into the tree.
Bird houses are right at home in my woodland tree... along with some twisty branches, owls and over sized sugar pine cones.
'Home for the Holidays' tree is all about ice skating, sleigh rides, sweaters and hot cocoa. These vintage bauer skates fit perfectly in with this tree. Oh.. and so did the ski's ;)
Look closer at that snow flake... it's made from a chunk of styrofoam. I used a dollar store serrated knife to cut them out when I needed something 'big' for my 'Nordic' Tree. Wanna know what I did with the holes? Check out the link below to see all these trees and more :) Happy Decorating!
