DIY Stencils and How to Paint a Galvanized French Flower Bucket

I was lucky enough to score this galvanized French flower bucket at my local Goodwill store, and like most of my "finds" it sat for a while before I decided exactly what I wanted to do with it. Enter my homemade stencils and some paint.
The main thing you need for making your own stencils is clear contact paper and an X-Acto knife.
Find a free font you like online, print it out, and then trace it onto the contact paper. Cut it out with the X-Acto knife and voila ~ you have your stencil!
Here my design is printed out.
Here it is traced onto the contact paper.
And here it is cut out and ready to be used. Just tape in onto the bucket with painter's tape and paint with acrylic craft paint. There's somewhat of a debate over what paint works best on galvanized metal, but I found that simple acrylic craft paint you can pick up at your local craft store worked best for me.
I'm really happy with how my stenciled galvanized French flower bucket turned out! Do you have any tips for painting galvanized metal?
