How to Make Over Wood Furniture With Vinyl Floor Tape

Vinyl floor tape is a very durable and water resistant material that can be used to makeover wood furniture.
I live in a small apartment and don't have a well ventilated workspace where I can strip and paint furniture. I recently started exploring with different materials that will help me update my small rental without the hassle or mess associated with many DIY projects.

Several years ago I went to a museum exhibit that featured a a striped floor installation (by artist Jim Lambie) that was constructed out of vinyl floor tape (that's the tape that's used to create boundary lines on gym floors.) I have a photo posted of the floor installation on my original blog post if you want to see what inspired this idea.
Here's the before shot.
Applying the tape can be a little tricky. However once you get the gist, it gets easier to work with. I share tips that make working with this material a lot easier.

That was my test pattern. It is a little over the top. This weekend I am making over the cabinet in a more subtle pattern. I just like the idea that you can clean vinyl floor tape. You can't clean decorative duct tape.

Neat idea. What is the cost for this tape?
