I need help with my first time using ASCP to paint velvet fabric. I have painted the seat of a rocker that has velvet fabric and now the paint/fabric is cracking. What did I do wrong and how can I correct this quickly? Thanks for your help

Hi Jeannie, I have done a couple of fabric painting projects with ASCP. Here is what I learned. Make sure it is 50/50 water and paint. If the paint is a bit on the thicker side, it may go on better when you paint it but there is a higher chance that it will crack after some time. Did you wax over the paint?? I hear that helps too. I painted my settee about a year ago and it is starting to crack. When it gets really bad, I will just sand it down and do another layer of paint to refresh it.

Jeanie, Victoria . . . I literally just finished the first 50/50 coat of ASCP on a velvet chair seat. As this is only my second DIY with the ASCP I try to search for every tutorial I can find re painting upholstery. before starting today I went to the Annie Sloan website and her Blog. In her ,blog answer to someone she says NOT to wax velvet but nothing more, so came on line to ask others what they have done. She did mention in another of her blog answers that she has a "paint median" that can be used. Anxious to see if anyone with an answer responds to our dilemma
