Down in the dumps, need cheap kitchen renovation

I'm looking for an inexpensive way to change my cabinets that have chipped oil base on them. And some kind of overlay on counters. I rent not own, so it's me who needs the change. Didn't want to spend too much. Ideas?

As you said you are renting, you probably shouldn't make permanent alterations. There are ways to use wallpaper and or fabric to liven things up a bit. Using wheat paste or something that comes off easily would be a good idea. It also can be removed with fabric softener and water in a spray bottle.

Thank you for your input. Was looking at rustoleum color transfrrmation. It's stain, so that won't work. I was going to use floor tile for a back slash. But idk now. I'm definitely going to look at wheat paste. Thanks thanks thanks
  • Are there knobs or pulls on the cabinets? Something that you might be able to try would be to find some new hardware for the cabinets that draw your eye away from the finish you're not happy with. At a house we rent, I changed the bathroom vanity pulls to these red metal 'faucets' and now don't even notice the terrible finish on the cabinet.

That's a good ideal too. Yes, the cabinets don't have hardware. I think I will look into ikea! Thank you so much.
