Do not know the name of this style to google it for ideas.....mason suggested half brick facia we do not like the idea of the "weighty" look. The gas fireplace gets HOT, we installed the ceiling fan to disburse heat. No mantel will work because it would have to be SO HIGH up that it looks hideous! No art work would survive the heat. Do not want book shelves on sides, we do not like clutter. Ideas? Suggestions? This is our family room.

Hi: I think this is beautiful but here's what I would do..first, get rid of the eagle and the wreath. Then, I would either put a nice painting there or a large mirror or maybe a bunch of small mirrors. If you put up a bunch of small mirrors, you could hang them with burlap bows or any color such as bright red to bring out the earthy colors in your room.

Paint it the same color as the wall, paint the brick if you want. I would add a natural looking mantel like a log or barn beam. The mantel would deflect the heat for the addition of art. Also do you have a built-in blower?

Leigh, this is a Jotul gas fireplace, they do not have blowers. Tried fans behind it, did not help, hence the ceiling fan addition. Thanks?

Go rustic and add weathered barn boards either standard planks or go modern and do a design with them.
