AquaTerra: One-Acre Pond and Waterfall

This Chicago suburban home has a man-made, one-acre pond in the backyard. The pond comes right up to the home for optimal viewing out an expanse of windows. A pondless waterfall graces the entrance to the home, as well. More information about this project is available at

I've been to this house, and I went swimming in this pond! There is an underwater tunnel about 20' long. I is scary to swim through because it gets dark and you don't know if you are near the end, Then it starts to get lighter when you get to the end.I've seen 4' long koi in this pond! Unbelievable environment. Most of what I know about ponds is because of the "guy" who owns this pond. This photo is from this pond.

Amazing! I'd love to know the logistics of how to get water this close to your home without damaging it. This is a beautiful design well executed - wish it were my home!
