    Well, I am not a plumber but I DO know about hard water - ours is so hard, soap doesn't lather! If it is just the shower line, I would remove the shower head and soak it in vinegar there are products for this, but it is not necessary). Most likely, this is where the build-up reduces your flow (same for faucet fixtures, etc.). If you want to clear out the pipe next to the connection, you could try turning off your water, then draining your pipse by turning on your taps until the flow ceases, and spray spray spray vinegar down the pipe with a mister and letting it sit for 15mins (hopefully in the next pipe bend or wherever the worst deposits are sitting.) BUT if you are in an old house that has had hard water for years nay decades, I doubt this will help enough as the buildup has gone coronary. You can learn to live with it - as I do - or maybe call a real plumber to see what he has to say. But remember, water is the next scarce resource, so if you use less, you've done the right thing for humanity by reducing your use!

    Not much you can do except add a whole house water filter system . Soft water might might drive you nuts after going through the hard water for a long time . It doesn't cost much , Menard's sells the system and filters are about 5 bucks over all . If your not plumber friendly like me , buy what you need and hired a plumber to install it and show you how to change the filters . Menard's also runs the filter packs on sale . When I had my house we changed them once a month . That was just me , but wow it made a huge difference in the quality of our water . Best of luck : }

    We have super hard water here in Texas. We now have a water softener and I feel that our plumbing and appliances will last a whole lot longer. You have to also think about the deposits building up in your water heater, it needs to be drained every 6 months with hard water. Invest in the best softener you can afford.
