Mix 1/4 teaspoon such as Dawn ( use the clear Dawn, not blue or green Dawn) with 1 cup of really hot water. Scrub, rinse. They also sell solvents from carpet companies or cleaning companies such as Stanley steamer, or people who sell carpeting. Never use the solvent directly on the carpet. Use a white towel and blot it. Hope this helps.

If Sherrie's great advice doesn't work, try this: sponge the stain with a little bit of water, then apply a small amount of white vinegar directly to the stain. Make a mixture of one part dish detergent, one part glycerin (can find in drug stores and even Walmart near the pharmacy), and eight parts water. Keep the mixture in a bottle labeled with the contents. Use the bottle to pour a good amount of the mixture onto an absorbent pad or folded microfiber cloth. Make sure it's good and wet. Place the wet pad or cloth directly on the stain, and let it sit there a few minutes, then check the stain. If it's still there, repeat the steps again. You may have to do it a few times before the grease stain is gone. Once the stain is gone, place a clean dry microfiber or other absorbent cloth over where the stain was, and weigh it down with something so that it absorbs any leftover moisture from the carpet. Let it sit for awhile, then remove and allow to finish air drying.

A product called Folex works great and you won't have all the soap gunk left behind to attract more dirt. It is not expensive & and easy to grab.
