Show me your fireplace

Has anyone put in a fireplace? I have a large blank wall in my family room where i'd like to add some kind of fireplace just not sure whitch way to go. Permanant, free standing, pot belly? I'd love to see what you've done!

A photo of your room and that wall would help. If I'm still around (spending extra time here while recuperating from a fall) I'll do a virtual for you if you can get a straight on photo of the wall in question.

There are some pretty amazing electfic fireplaces out there rhat you can design around and you ca choose, heat, fire or heat with fire!
