How to fix a pendant light at the ceiling

In our kitchen we have three pendant lights. The middle light has come loose from the ceiling. I tried pushing the light back up towards the ceiling, but the light does not want to move and if I get it to move it slips down again. Can this be fixed and how do I do this?
Middle light has separated from the recessed part of the fixture
4" from base of fixture
How to fix this?

The screw has somehow come loose, it may not have caught all it needed when it was installed. The cone shaped brown nut that the wire comes through is actually a nut. Either try tightening it, or if it doesn't catch, unscrew it and pull down the cover and see if you can locate the problem.

This one looks to me like an adapter kit you can buy to change a recessed light to a pendant. Unscrew the little sleeve st the top of the cord and slide it down. The large disc will slide down too, and you can wind the cord tighter if you like before pushing the disc back up and tightening the sleeve to secure it. I have a couple of these. You can find them at Lowe's, and you can change the shade when you want a different look.

@Cornelia Schott We have replaced several glass fixtures to bring things together. Take one off and take it with you to make sure they are the right size. I bought 3 and had to return them because the hole where the glass globe attaches to the pendant was a different size. Good luck and post a picture of what you change it to.

You are so right. We feel like this house was such a do it yourself job that most of the jobs were done improperly. We will look at the nut and the sleeve. Thanks!
