Reclaimed Wood Animal Silhouettes

While scanning Hometalk recently, I discovered Sand and Sisal and their FABULOUS shark pallet art. Well, since reclaiming just about anything is right up my alley, I had to give this a go. So much fun to create! I love the little hedgehog and dog. I see other silhouettes in my future. ;)

I've got a pallet... now if I just had artistic talent and wood working ability.

I love these. Did you use a jig saw, dremel or ban saw?

    Hi Forestine,

I actually used a scroll saw. But if you had a silhouette that wasn't too intricate, you could probably get away with a jigsaw. I've never used my Dremel for cutting, but you could give it a try. I can't speak about a band saw as I've never used one. :)

I guess I assumed you cut it out all at once. Just never tried anything that large with the scroll. They look great.

I lay the pieces of reclaimed wood together, sketch the animal on top, then cut the pieces individually. The final step is to tack all the pieces together. So, I am working with small pieces. Thanks Forestine!

Love this. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to try this, this spring. My sister is into Wolves, where do you find your patterns, or is this free hand?
