Winter Floral Arrangements

I love to decorate our front porch for every season. It's really easy to create winter floral arrangements because we have many local nurseries with a variety of greenery to choose from. The garden arch and white vases are my year round focal point. After my summer/fall plants have died back I pluck them out of the pots and clean out the roots to get them ready for next spring. I leave the dirt it the pots, arrange my greenery and then pour water over the dirt. This soon freezes in our temperatures thus anchoring all of the greenery. I will be adding pops of color here and there now that I have the overall design complete. The greenery stays fresh all winter long and I get to see green in an otherwise white landscape.
The front porch is my favorite place for all seasons. Here it is all decked out for winter. I wish I could sit out there in the winter too!
For these florals I used spruce tips, juniper and white pine. The garland is made of balsam.

Spruce tips, juniper and white pine were arranged in the pots. I poured water over the dirt in the pots so that it would freeze and anchor it to the pot.
This simple arrangement is made using a feed bucket for the base and a cedar planter with a whimsical pump attached. The base will soon be surrounded by snow drifts giving it a softer look.
I love this old milk jug I found at an estate sale. The branches, paper and river birch, were collected from the woods that surround us. The pine cones I collected on a trip to the mountains in California a few years back. I made the bows out of burlap ribbon.
Since these photos were taken I added red berries to this arrangement.
