I got a tip from a professional window cleaner one time, he said use the professional glass cleaner you'd get at a home improvement store for tinted windows. I have it and it works great! Use a squeegee!

Thanks! Adrianne C. My neighbor just stopped by and told me the same thing! Even dropped off her squeegee for me to use!

Are your windows newer? It depends in your windows now. Using a ammonia base cleaner will streak and smear them. This is how I get streak free windows. I use a micro fiber cloth with a drop of dish soap. And scrub the windows. I have a squeegee I purchased from Lowes. I was the windows and then spray a non ammonia spray and squeegee to clean them off. I use non ammonia aerosol spray you can buy from Walmart, or Sam's Club. Or you can just squeegee them off and they will still be clean. I do this every single day on rentals. I do this to my home. It works, easy and quick.

I use vinegar and hot water mix. wipe the window with the mix using a sponge or a cloth and wad up newspaper to clean it off. NO STREAKS! . I have cleaned windows for years..Not only mine.. I use One part vinegar ( clear or apple cider either one ) to three parts hot water in a small bucket..Newspaper will make your hands look a bit black from the print when it gets wet but it works and the ink will wash off of your hands...the cheap paper towels work almost as well. The higher priced paper towels I believe have an oil in them and it is impossible to be streak free using them. If you choose to use a cleaning type cloth wash it and do not use a fabric softener in the rinse or in the dryer, it will also cause it to leave streaks.. I hope you get the same results that I do. I have been doing this for years..

@Debs Agree with your thoughts on paper towel "oil". Almost drove me crazy before I connected the dots.

Debs, the new manufactors suggest using vinegar on newer windows. This does keep them streak free and keeps them from getting build up.

Hi Sherrie, I did not realize this about the new windows! it is a method my Great Aunt taught me years ago when she needed help cleaning her windows..The glass in them was really old, when you looked through them everything had a wavy effect. It was the first time I was able to get a streak free shine..Thank you for letting me know..

I wash them first with some dish soap in hot water to get most of the grime off. Then I rinse. Then I use hot water and my Magic Cloth. Come out sparkly.

They also have mirror or glass clothes. After I wipe off a mirror or window or anything glass I use the glass cloth to buff any smudges. They last a long time and are also great for dusting furniture. I use buy them from a janitorial supply company but have seen them in the car section at Wamart.
