Great ideas for garden lighting

The days are getting noticeably shorter, but nights can still be warm, making this an ideal time of year to focus on lighting for outdoor spaces. Some garden lighting can be quite pricey, but the Garden Therapy blog has a great collection of mostly do-it-yourself ideas. Check them out at http://gardentherapy.ca/outdoor-lighting-ide...

Cool roundup, Douglas! I'm always really drawn to DIY lighting projects - I think I'm just addicted to the feeling of stargazing/being surrounded by twinkling Christmas lights.

You are so-o-o creative...I was planning to give away a bunch of candles but now I think I like your idea so much I'll keep some of them for cool nights on the deck..How do I punch the holes? P.S. I found the video for doing this. I am wondering if the design couldn't be accomplished using a drill.

Thanks Douglas (do you go by Douglas or Doug? Just curious). We made the wine bottle deck lamps and love them, but want to add a shield between the flame and where it is attached to the deck rail because it singes and leaves black soot on the handrail.

Julee, I generally go by Doug, but there are some people who have always called me Douglas, so I go by that, too. We'd love to see a photo of your wine bottle deck lamps.

Thanks, Julee. Great job. I can see what you mean by the wind blowing the flame and creating soot.

Doug, if you don't mind my asking, what did you use to punch the hole design on the cans?

Zelma Daley : You would need to look on Garden Therapy's site. That's where the instructions are.
