Cabinet light

I have a light on a built in cabinet that I have to open the door to turn on. I would like it to be a light that I can turn on by touching the hinge. Any suggestions on a retro fit and installation instructions?

Haven't a clue. But just told hubby if I was rich I would never have to touch a light switch again. I would have them fixed when I came in a room light would go on. Or if I opened a door light would go one and off when I lef( motion sensor). Hope you find a n answer for you need.

I bought a set at Bed Bath and Beyond a couple of years ago You get 3 plugins and a remote. You plug in the things you want to turn off and on, then just use the remote to turn them off or on. I bought it at Christmas time and I bet they have them now. It works great and I use it all year long. I will check right now to see if they have it online.

Found it. It's a Stanley indoor remote control and is available at Bed Bath and Beyond.

We have one....three plug ins and a remote....got it at Amazon.com. Have them on three lights in the family room. Also at the big box stores you can get a single plugin for your Christmas tree...can turn it on with the remote. Works great.

I love this site, never heard of such a thing
  • I know they have touch lamps but never heard of one being able to do something like this. With that they do make on / off switches triggered by opening the door (switch is routed into the frame, once opened the circuit is completed & vice versa when closed)
