  • this is right
  • this is ugly 2
  • this is pitiful!

Southern gardeners are contemplating pruning their crapemyrtles right now.

Personally, I think whacking them into a knob is the ugliest thing you can do to this beautiful plant. It's simple to just remove twigs that are smaller than your little finger, prune out ...»
limbs that cross through the middle and clip the sprouts around the base. The result is a beautiful plant for both winter AND summer.

  • White is a non color and has contradictory interpretations. In Western cultures it symbolizes innocence and purity, cleanliness. White means safety, purity, and cleanliness. White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. 15
  • Green is the color of nature symbolizing growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety and is believed to have great healing power. It is the most restful color for the human eye--can improve vision. 14
  • Red is a very emotionally intense color. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure. Red is the color of fire and blood, and is associated with energy, war, danger, as well as passion, desire, and love. 6
  • Blue represents peace, tranquility, and calm. Just the opposite, it also represents reverie, sadness, and melancholy. Blue also represents the sky, heavens, and the sea which is non ending, therefore it is often associated with depth and stability. 6
  • To the human eye, orange is a very hot color. Orange is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. It represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, and encouragement. 6

If you are looking for holiday gift ideas, a gift certificate to a local nursery or a membership to a public garden in

your region will be well received by gardeners. I'm hoping someone will give me a membership to the Garden Conservancy http://www.gardenconservancy.org/

  • Daphne odora 'Aureomarginata'
  • Prunus mume 1

Plants to add to your garden now (Zone 7) for winter blooms.

Daphne odora and what about Japanese flowering apricot (Prunus mume). You can grow Daphne in a container or in the ground, evergreen and verrrrrrry fragrant flowers!
