My stairwell with painted scallops and new wainscoting.

We just added wainscoting to our wall in our upstairs stairwell. I also didn't want to paint the white wall all the way up past 20 feet because of it being so high. I 'cheated' down 2 ft. ...»

  • Our goal was to minimize the cost of this kitchen remodel while creating maximum value to our clients. We replaced a minimum number of the cabinets for practical reasons such as relocating the microwave to its new location over the stove.

Outdoor Living: I have tile on my floor in my bathroom. I have the tile that is like a baseboard on the wall too.

Is it okay to put a bead of caulk on the top of the tile to give it a better transition look from the tile to painted wall?

I am thinking of putting the baseboard or skirting tile in my bath and I'm wondering how to ...»
transition from the tile to the door trim? Do I have to smooth the edge of the tile and polish it, I just don't like the unfinished look between the two. Am I making sense? I wish I could see pics of what you've done Gordon.

  • rotted sheathing and heavy mold growth on joists

A new mold project my crew and I will be working on the next six weeks.

This is an example of just how bad mold can get in a very short period of time. Entire flooring system, sub-floors, main floor, tile must come out on entire lower level of home. This is a ...»
real important issue. The poor client is not covered by insurance as most people are not.

Check your home owners insurance to see if you can add a rider just to cover yourself.

I will post progress photos as we move along the next six weeks.

Question: One day I came home to an awlful smell in one of the guest bedrooms. I checked the ...»
attic, pulled out everything fromthe room, checked all the other rooms and found nothing. So, I opened windows (during the winter, yes) and eventually within a few days the smell was gone. To me it smelled as if something died in the walls, but my sister seems to think it was a damp smell. I cannot find leaks, or holes or anything out of the ordinary to determine where this smell may have come from. DO you have any suggestions? I'm just afraid we might have mold issues and not realize it until it is too late or so out of control that we can't control it. Thanks

Hi Hometalkers!

Check out my album of "bonus rooms" it's that one spare room in the house that can be used for just about anything! The question is, if you could transform your spare room into any of these, which one you choose?
