Vintage Soda Crate Planter

I found a vintage Coca Cola soda pop crate at a local antiques mall. I had been looking for the perfect one (for the perfect price) for the past year. I was then able to find a variety of ...»
small succulent plants from Home Depot. I also mixed in a few "faux" plants from Hobby Lobby. The soda crate has become a fun and colorful planter.

From Pallet to Privacy Screen Planter!

I wanted a little privacy screen on my deck and decided a pallet would be the perfect (and free!) solution! To freshen it up, I painted the pallet a cheery yellow and filled it with summer flowers and vines! Now it doubles as a garden and provides just the privacy I needed! It was an easy DIY project, you can find the how to details at The Inspired Room http://theinspiredroom.net/2012/05/28/the-pa...

  • New galvanized buckets can be "aged" by spraying them with bleach.
  • We used a purchased rod system, but I can't recommend it. It's best to use a metal conduit pipe.

Topsy Turvy Galvanized Bucket Planter

Do you love those whimsical topsy turvy planters as much as I do? Have you ever wondered how they are made? Here's one I made recently using galvanized buckets. You can find more details, including the plants that I used, by visiting our blog.

  • 1. Gently wash the leaves, removing any garden debris.
  • 2. Lay out the leaves, sandwiching them between dry paper towels. Place them in the microwave.
  • 3. Microwave at 30 second intervals or until leaves are dry and crispy. Our usual drying time is 1 minute.

The Fastest Way To Dry Herbs

We want to make the most of every herb we grow this year. We also want to store some for later use. And we want to do it quickly. For small batches, the most convenient drying method we ...»
have found is...the microwave!

No thyme to wait for herbs to dangle about drying? Or maybe you live in a humid climate like we do? Try these simple steps to quickly preserve every last leaf in your herb garden.
