Container Gardening for Winter

I never thought about actually doing container gardening for the winter… maybe a few pots would be left from the summer with straggly plants inside, but that was about it! Until I went to Big Bloomers in Sanford, N.C. for a presentation on winter containers. I'm hooked! See my blog post for specific plants I used.
Here's the beginning! Get your materials ready, place the pots in container for space planning… I use potting soil, but others say to only use topsoil for winter containers. What do you think?
Here it is, week one.
I'm using these terra cotta planters; taking a chance that they won't crack in the winter...
Love this blue one by the front door.
