Stain out of quilt

Just recently found a wonderful quilt. It is made with washable wool batting and weighs a ton - in a good way. Problem - appears to have been pee'd on and dried and has been sitting for a few years. How do I go about trying to remove this old set in? stain from this beautiful quilt so it can be used again? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Did you say it is washable? If so, you may pretreat with baking soda and peroxide. I wash large heavy items at a public laundry that has large washing machines because I know my home machine would not handle heavy items. My mother, over 50 years ago, used a paste of lemon juice (not bottled) and baking soda smeared over the stain, placed a piece of glass over the paste and set out in the sun. The paste acted as a bleaching agent. This worked well with rust stains. I would think it could work well with old stains as well. Good luck.

Dissolve Oxy Clean in as hot a water as the quilt can take and soak for at least two days. Doesn't hurt to spray with Oxy Clean spray too.

I hope this isn't an OLD quilt!! They need very careful handling and shouldn't be washed in hot water or agitator types of washers. There are also some cleaners out that are more suitable for an heirloom quilt than what we use in our washers today. If the quilt you have is old, please, contact a quilt conservator in your area for instructions.
