How To Store An Artificial Christmas Tree Inexpensively & Conveniently

Easy
Two years ago we bought a brand new pre-lit artificial Christmas tree. The good news was that it was super easy to set up and dismantle and it looked gorgeous after it was decorated.
The bad news is this very heavy 7.5 foot (2.29 meter) tall tree would not go back into the original box that it came in. The box was also pretty big and frankly I really didn't have a convenient place for it to be stored in the house or the garage without it being in the way. So this the inexpensive and convenient solution I came up with.
I made a custom sized storage sack with lots of room to spare for each of the three pieces that made up the artificial Christmas tree.
To further secure the tree I wrapped a strap around the branches and gave it a firm but not too tight tug.
Since each storage sack was made quite large I was able to tie the bottom into a nice neat bow making a very neat package.
I made long straps out of the sheet fabric to also tie around the outside of the storage bags. The larger bag was wrapped in two straps.

Now our artificial tree can be stored in three different sections in the garage making it a lot more manageable to retrieve and put away. The bonus is that nobody has to lift and struggle with a very heavy storage box.

I have a complete photo tutorial for how I made these storage bags on the blog. I invite you to stop by for a visit and see how easy this artificial Christmas tree storage system is to make!

I bought a manufactured tree storage bag with a zipper closure, purposely choosing one slightly larger than recommended, so my tree would not be crushed. While I was at it, I noticed that the cushions for my outdoor furniture would fit nicely inside the tree bag, so I bought a couple of extra tree bags to store the cushions for the winter.
