Kitchen sink replacement

I have an undermount kitchen sink that is set in a granite countertop and want to replace it with a stainless steel version. The problem is that it is not a standard shape design. The manufacturer doesn't have the same design any longer. Any suggestions as to how to replace the sink without replacing the countertop too?

You might be able to find it on Ebay, or some other site that sells used parts. If the sink you want is larger than the current opening, it can always be enlarged. If you're not able to find it, you may need to replace the granite.

I use liquid Bar Keepers Friend, be sure you rinse and buff it dry.

@Helen I am planning to have a granite undermount sink installed. Why are you replacing your sink with stainless steel? May I ask the sink brand name of the granite sink.

Hi Sherie, The porcelain sink stains too easily for my much used kitchen! I believe it's manufactured by Elkin.

If you can't find the matching shape or size, buy one that's slightly bigger. You can then have the hole in the granite enlarged without having to replace the whole countertop.

Whoops I read that wrong. Now the question is why don't you replace porcelain with a granite sink @Helen. I only recently learned about granite sinks so I will soon find out how good they are. I currently have a stainless steel sink which is quite old and doesn't stain but it does have small scratches. The granite sink will look great with my new counter top.

Helen, my brother owns a granite/marble shop. He would recommend a professional cleaning and resealing to restore your countertop. I have a light-colored counter in my bathroom. He has always told me not to clean with anything stronger than dish soap and a soft cloth. To restore the shine I use a product in a black container called "international stone polish". Again just using a soft cloth. Makeup, etc. comes right off. You can buy the polish almost anywhere, I got mine from the orange big-box store. Good luck!
