Wax removal

I recently got wax on a shirt and jeans, so tried the iron and paper bag removal method. (Never had reason to try it before, though the tip has been around for ages.) But now, I don't know how long I should expect the process to take, and when I've gotten all I can out. Any ideas? I've been using fresh paper towels between the fabric and paper bag.

I worked on a carpet with red candle wax (and lots of it) for hours. Remove the paper towels and use just the paper bag...might help.

Test an inconspicuous area on the garment first but go-be-gone may be a good solution as well.

take pape towels and put under the wax spot and on top of the wax spot. Then, take your iron and on the cotton setting, place on the paper towel and iron. When you see the paper towel absorbing the wax, change out the paper towel. Change as often as needed until all the wax has been removed from the material. Then wash garment.

@Carolinmich I usually use the iron with tissue paper and that seems to work quite well. If there is still a mark at the end it could be the oils from the candle and at that point you could treat it as a grease stain, but I usually find the tissue paper is quite effective on table cloths anyway. Good luck.

First, put the fabric in the freezer for about thirty minutes. Then, remove the fabric and scrape off the cold wax. Lastly, use the warm iron and paper bag method to remove the wax stain from the fabric. Finish it off by applying a little straight laundry detergent directly to the stain and washing as directed. This method also works with gum/bubble gum. It may be too late, if you've put heat on it.

You'll be done when the paper you are using, (any absorbent paper mentioned) comes out clean, no wax on the paper. And if it's not coming out, up the heat some on the iron.
