Late-season inspiration from the New York Botanical Garden

A Columbus Day weekend visit to the New York Botanical

Garden was filled with vivid reminders that, in many parts of the country, we

need not yet put our gardens to bed. Dahlias provided visual fireworks in the

"seasonal walk," while asters drew swarms of bees and butterflies (and humans

photographing them). And the vegetable garden was filled with reminders that it

is not only flowers that put on a show.
