Installing vintage windows

I would like to install a set of 12 vintage ext. windows. Is there a good way to do this that will ensure that they are air-tight? Can they be attached somehow to make one large picture window? Does anyone know of a good link or instructions for doing this? (I know most folks replace their old windows, but I want to enhance my 120-year old historic home by adding these if possible) ~ Always swimming upstream! Help?
