Is there a way to refinish white ceramic tile that doesn't cost so much?

Clean the tile (assuming it's ceramic) with a regular household cleaner, being sure to scrape off sticky dirt from the tile itself. If using a scrub brush on the grout does not work to brighten the grout, use a hand-held grout saw to take the grout down enough to allow you to apply new grout over what remains. Remember to seal the grout, after cleaning the grout off the ceramic tile face. You will swear that the tile is brand new! It's not expensive, just labor and tie -- considering the savings and the number of years of enjoyment, it's worth the effort!

I would try a paste made of white vinegar and baking Soda - could do the job as it seems to clean most things.

I tried that and it did help . I had to get on my knees and scrub with a wire brush.!!

Look online for an epoxy ceramic tile paint. You paint over the dirty grout, too. It makes the surface look like new.

I agree with becerlybnelson... I used the rustolem tile spray paint for the rub surround in our bath 18 months ago. With 6 of us using it. it still looks awesome! Best 20$ I ever spent!! But, for the hideous avocado green tile in the room, I cleaned it, buffed it, and used Americana chalk paint and used a spray poly to top it and again that is still holding up! I chose the tile spray paint for the surround because I needed it to hold up to a family of 6 showering daily... so I think it depends where the tile is?? Hope that helps
