Christmas in the Family Room

The Endearing Home
by The Endearing Home
I will always love decorating with bright and festive red and green colors for Christmas, but in one room in our home I decided to do something a little different. Over the past few years I have slowly been adding soft blues and greens to our coastal inspired family room, so that would of course include the holiday decorations as well.
I would still love to add a few things to the room, but for now it's done and just in time to enjoy for the holidays. Here's a peek!
You can see the entire family room all decked out for Christmas on my blog!

Love your curtains! Is it a black and tan Buffalo check or black and white? I can't tell from the picture. Where did you purchase the fabric?

I assume the back of the lace is cut out.... Soooo I was thinking in bed lol about your lampshade and thought about the Battenberg lace on a curtain I have. I thought.. Cut the lampshade size out of burlap leaving a turn under edge and press it... maybe whip stitch the edges to keep from fraying. Once the size is done.. Cut the edge off my curtains.. Fine the center of the lace and the center of the burlap. pen in place. then cut the back of the burlap out leaving a turn under seam. stitch lace into place with sewing machine... Is the lace just lace or does it have a protective coating?

@Loretta You so need to do a tutorial on this for Hometalk you have such a great idea and plan to recreate this lampshade! I was looking at the lampshade again and the fabric looks like a mix of both burlap and linen. If feels like burlap but more the color of linen so either fabric would work. It looks like the lace is laying on top and then the burlap fabric is somewhat cut out from behind so that the lace detail shows through when the light is turned on. The fabric is attached to a plain shade that is hard on the inside. I think they sell this type of shade at Joann's but any plain lampshade which I have seen at stores like Lowes and Home Goods. You would just wrap the fabric around to create the custom look and I think the way others have attached is using a spay adhesive. Hope this helps and I love the idea of using the battenburg lace.
