Need ideas for front entrance

My 25 foot hall (shotgun house) has no wow factor at all. After walking in the front door, just hardwood floors and this ugly color walls. Suggestions?

Why not make it and art gallery? You could hang photos or art on either side on walls. That way people have something to look at when they come in the front door not just blank walls. Maybe mix it up with clocks, mirrors and wreaths etc.give walls some interest.

You might want to try a door knob with a little more wow factor. Emtek has some really nice entry sets. @25 feet of wall. wow. You could frame out a door opening somewhere down that hall to make the entry look like and entry way. Paint the "back hall area" a different color than the "entry" area. Put hooks behind the door for an entry "closet" and a big mirror on the opposite wall. Then decorate the "back hall with family photos.No search results.

You might want to try painting the walls a different color (easy and inexpensive). If it's feasible right now, perhaps a new door??? Check your local salvage yard for a vintage inspired, solid wood door...it'll give your entrance character and that 'wow' factor you're looking for! You can also try removing the current glass in the door for something a little more modern or updated, then paint the door a really bold color...have fun!!!

I'd paint the walls for sure and add a nice area rug. Also a nice console to catch all or pretty bench. And last but not least dress up the walls with some nice artwork

Paint the door black, satin, not glossy and get a bigger door handle. The door will look great with wall colour or a pale sage green would also look great. I am about to paint the inside of my entry way door black because it is black on the outside and when it is opened into the hall it looks awesome.

With that wall color a beautiful deep blue on the door with brushed nickel door handle and more substantial moulding. Perhaps a graphic print wallpaper with a wall shelf an mirror above.

Well Im old but a while back sponge painting was very "IN" . You could leave the base color of the wall as is and sponge a textured look using slightly lighter and darker colors which would bring out the stained glass and add dimension to the wall with your trim the bright white,,, Then as someone else mentioned art gallery, or family photos.. Coat hooks behind the door... A mirror about midway down the hall Possibly a small narrow table for a "homey" feeling... The possibilities are endless,. And if you get tired of it You can always Paint over it and do something different. Also a Runner rug IF you like could add some interest... Let your creativity flow see what you can do!

I too have a long hallway, as I live in a modular home. I took some nice narrow moulding and made 3 2'x4' frames and hung an interesting (to me) piece of art in the top 1/3 of each frame. Because I also have a transition from cathedral ceiling in the front of my modular to the back bedrooms/baths I put up a 2" x 4" piece of MDF as a faux wall to further define the transition. One of the art pieces was a garden plaque.

Why don't you use stain glass paint on the door glass. Hard to advise when we don't know your color scheme. I LOVE the door and the color it is. By now I'm sure you've done something....can you post the finish?

It looks like you have room for a long/narrow entry table with a beautiful mirror or art with a tall floral arrangement and candles. Pretty long rectangle rug. It would be a beautiful and inviting entry.

The contrasting colors of door and walls accentuate the narrowness. Try using the same color on both, but probably not boring white nor a really dark color. Also maybe hanging a large mirror on one wall would add depth.

I like the yellow but if you don't, repainted. You didn't say how wide the hall is. If it is wide enough, do a few vignettes ... A hall table, lamps, art work, baskets or boxes, etc. then do a couple of chairs, a tea table or other style, art, lamp, decor pieces, etc.
