I'm finally working on the guest bedroom in our new home, and I just finished my proudest DIY to date: Hand-sewn, pleated draperies. Hurrah! I still can't believe I made them. My mother is an interior designer and professional drapery seamstress, and she supervised every step of my work. Thanks, Mom!
DIY'd: The headboard, curtains, and lamp.
Here are some pictures of the process:
Hemming seemed to take forever.
It was exciting to see the pleats take shape.
I still want to make some pillows and shams for the bed, and hang art. But the biggest project on my list is painting the nightstands and dresser. Right now they are chipped all over and look awful. But I'm not sure about what color(s) to paint them. Right now, I want to paint the nightstands white and the dresser a bright red-orange. I think it would pick up the coral color in the curtains nicely. What do you think? Is that too crazy, or just crazy enough to work?
I received some great Hometalk feedback about making over the nightstands in my bedroom, and I'd love to know what y'all think about painting these pieces. Thanks!
