very very cool! I would love something like this in my home! Fantastic idea! -
I make them along with our headboards and tables on a regular basis. Say the word and I will get one knocked out for you. -
Wow that is Really Nice! However.....I would have liked some doors on the bottom to hide the contents....LOL -
Sharron W ...or perhaps some pin lights in the bottom to showcase a nice statue or plants...the possibilities are endless! Or...oh, I've got it!!! Faux rice paper doors with soft lighting inside to add a "glow" to the base and let it have it's own point of attraction!! (Faux rice paper= parchment paper..$2.49 a roll) -
Wow Therese, that's homemaking brilliance! Unless you have a kid or creature that would enjoy poking holes in the doors.... -
*blush*...just saying what I would do with it...I have a bit of a creative streak...LOL..I love coloring outside the lines....LOL -
Good ideas Therese. I enjoy more of the woodworking side of things and some faux finishing thought the woodworking is definitely more my strength. This particular customer wanted two over-sized compartments to have either two wicker baskets or two linen bins. If I were to add doors I would have needed the center face frame to be a 1x3 vs. a 1x2. I plan on making a bunch more. Finding the old doors is the biggest challenge and at a reasonable price. -
Robert Brantzeg I see you are in Texas. I don't know about down there, but here in Iowa they have stores that specialize in selling pieces from construction and rehab sites. Perhaps that is an avenue you could check. The ones here have old doors for about 10-20 bucks. Another idea is Craigslist.com there are people selling doors, windows, you name it for very cheap. Good luck! -
There are some - not many - it takes some hunting around. -
You know Robert, looking at this picture has made me look at my entertainment center several times today and consider removing the middles of the lower doors and replace it with lights and parchment paper...LOL...another project coming up! -
Make sure to post the pics if you decide to get after it! The only concern I have is the dissipation of the heat from the light. I know how flammable that can be. Please keep me posted. -
not a problem...I burn the battery operated candles all the time. I have two lanterns that come on everynight at 7pm and shut off at 11pm. The batteries seem to last forever. I've been going on a month now without changing them and they're still bright enough. -
That's a good idea. -
I was thinking cool touch LED? -
What about solar....even inside the house a collector could get enough sun to charge your batteries... -
Good call Sharron! -
This is kind of what my friend is doing with a dresser and she is saving the drawers for later use to make a cabinet and use shutters for doors, etc..... -
Sharon B have you seen Tania's bathroom cabinet with the the shutter doors?
