Removing paint on my hands

I've said I'm new to crafting and recycling and tonight proves it. LOL..My hand slipped while painting something small red and it covered almost both of my hands. OMG.. I finally found some nail polish remover and used it and got it off but still have some little tint. I can deal with that but how do I get that smell off my hands,it's horrible. I also want to know how safe it is for me to have my hands on food. I have some alcohol. Will that help? Ok, everybody laugh now....

Goo Gone. You can find it everywhere, even in the $1 bin at Target.

^^^^^All the above work great but your drying out your poor hands. Squeeze a lemmon with your hands and wash with some soap and lotion up. I recommend goo gone vs WD

Nail polish remover is very toxic! You can get the paint off just as well by rubbing your hands with vegetable oil, then washing with a gritty soap like Lava or Goop. Then hand lotion.

Avon's skin so soft for enamel based paint. I paint a lot and this always works for me.

@Kletta we all learn by trial and error. I would be careful with WD40 - can cause respiratory problems if there isn't enough ventilation. It would help if you moisturized your hands before starting the work on the project. Know what type of paint you are using - oil base requires some sort of turpentine like product to remove - if using this try using either rubber or latex gloves when working on the project. If latex or acrylic paint usually soap and water will remove it - sometime a nail brush with soap and water may be required. After clean up use a good moisturizer on your hands - I love cocoa butter from the Body Shop.

Light stains, I use soap and water. For stubborn stains I use baking soda with abit of lemon juice - scrub hands and use a brush to help lift stains around nails. I apply coconut oil mixed with aloe vera geland put cotton gloves on for a few minutes, in a rush I use my hand lotion. I also use this routine after working in myyard and garden. Oil paint sometimes requires a bit more attention. If the baking soda mix doesn’t work; I use cooking oil or a citrus basedsolvent to help lift the stains, not as toxic as other solvents. Hope this helps!

Thank you everyone. I know now not to use polish remover. Man that stuff stinks but it took it off. Next time and I know there will be a next time,I'll use the goo gone and a lemon.
