Building a Firepit in 20 Minutes!

20 Minutes
Easy
Now that the nights are finally getting cold I thought what better way to enjoy the winter here in Dubai than to have a firepit! It was so easy I don't know why we didn't make one before!
First make sure you have enough space and no overhanging trees/branches or anything in the surrounding area that could catch fire! Also check with your local neighbourhood fire marshal if you aren't sure if you are allowed!
Mark out where you will put the firepit, and clear it from any debris - in my case clearing the gravel that was on top of sand
Dig out a trench type tunnel, so that you can lay your bricks in evenly. Hammer them down slightly so that they don't sink once the next layers are on top. I didn't use concrete here and I am sure if I had it would have been far more sturdy and last for decades - but I am keeping it simple and will only use it for a few months a year! Plus This is supposed to be a quick and easy project ;-)
Leave holes for the smoke to escape and allow oxygen to the base of the fire to maintain a nice even burning - I actually didn't know this but after a lot of research on Google that is what everyone said to do and after a few fires now i can agree!

I used small bits of broken brick to create the holes, and the firepit had a total of 4 layers. (the base is hidden underneath)
Lastly, see your firepit in action with a glass of mulled wine and some toasted marshmallows!

The best part of this project was that it was virtually free due to just using leftover bricks from our garden landscaping a few months ago!

Nice! Don't you just love sitting around an open fire in the evenings?

Only thing I would caution is that regular bricks aren't safe in fires. Fire bricks are... in the case of high heat fires.

@Annie Medic If you make the firepit big enough to keep the logs and high heat in the middle, regular bricks might be ok. I know what you mean because I have a rock ring fire pit and have had those rocks split with a big fire.
