Queen of a Doublewide Trailer

You gotta love when life picks you up and turns you around. In the prime of my life we lost almost everything in a fire above us in a loft. We had thousands of gallons of water destroy almost everything we had. So starting over in a new area with little options was tough. When the hubby found a reposed doublewide with animals living in it, broken windows, a leaking roof and no way to get into it because they took the porch off when they left ( this is a true story!) he made an offer and got it. After crying for two hours, (I cant tell you how bad this place was and we really had no money to fix this up!) I put my big girl panties on and went to work. I truly am in the middle of no where and even Walmart is 45 minutes away so if you need anything immediately, you are screwed. I am working on doing a video blog about this, (I figure it is cheaper than therapy!) but in the meantime I want to share with you some of the projects I have finished. UPDATE>> I have been busy doing some more projects, make sure to look me up!
In a cabinet that was bought at an Estate sale ( it was old red in a garage with tools in it) I painted it white and used it to house supplies underneath. But in the glass cabinet part, I put a collage together of Family and Friends that I have lost and want to remember during this time of year. I have not only placed pictures there , but personal items like watches set at the time they passed, house numbers, antique baby pics, baby shoes, family bible and notes of inspiration. I hope that everyone has somewhere in their homes that they celebrate those that can not be with them so that it becomes a new tradition in their families lives.
I love looking at this everyday.
My Father who I lost 10 years ago is still a huge part of my day everyday. To see him featured like this does my heart good!
This was truly the back door at the house! I have a very funny sense of humor so I made fun of this situation with this sign. Sign says " Due to the economic situation, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off!"
I used the cast iron that we did not lose in the accident as décor.
The old silverware that was donated to us to use has been turned into a showcase where I have put beans into a vase (free) with a candle that was at the dollar store.
A dear friend gave me this sign and I am using it as a starting point to design the second bedroom. Note the dictionary pages on the wall behind this. The wall has so many holes in it that it was going to cost over $1,000 to fix, I could not afford this so I decoupaged an entire old dictionary on the wall. Cost me two days work and $10!
Wall in progress.
We had no money for flooring. I had some throw rugs but needed to do something so after some researching, I painted the floors with a Binz Zinzer white to provide a blank canvas and then hand stained a wood floor. It was ALOT of work but to do the entire house cost me about $300! I did put three coats of poly on top and so far they have been easy to clean up and seam to be hanging in there.
My poor body hurt so bad after doing this, so now I see why they charge so much labor for this!
The holidays are here now and I used what we had been given with limbs and pinecones from outside. Out of room here so I will post more soon.. I hope!

I love that you believe in God. Imagine how much harder this terrible experience would be if you didn't know Him! He is definitely preparing you for very great things, judging by your ability to turn nothing into fabulous! I will pray for you, dear lady!
