Tin Can Welcome Lights

I saw a posting on here about different outdoor lighting ideas a couple weeks ago and after following the link I found how to make pretty candleholders out of old tin cans. I decided to make a 'welcome' sign out of them instead of a design or picture on the cans. It was so fast and easy to do!

I spray painted them a dark bronze color when they were done.

So pretty Jeanine. Do you freeze water inside the cleaned out cans and then use nails to hammer in the design?

Hi Becky! Yep you got it. The website said to fill it up with rice or sand partway before putting in the water so the bottom of the cans don't pop out. I didn't really understand how this would happen, but I did it anyways lol... Super quick to make!

Oh that's a great idea! I'll have to remember that if I ever get time to do this. I've always wanted to.

Love the way you adapted that idea to make it your own.

Would be great for Christmas, painting the cans red or gold and even sprinkle glitter around the can after you finish the design I would even add a silk poinsetta at the base with a ribbon. Or glue pine cone pieces around the base or stack them saying MERRY CHRISTMAS

I am fairly new to Hometalk and was wondering, at the top of this page it says Pinit, Tweet, Email and F for Facebook and number for likes.....where does this come from, I have not noticed it on any of my postings??

It should be on every post Sharon B.

I'm guessing the number after Pin-it is how many times it's been pinned and that you'd have to signed in with your fb or twitter account in order to share it there. I don't like sharing things that way so I've not tried it.

It's nice to see I'm not the only Central time zone person awake.

Sharon B here is the link on how to do these. It recommends taping a piece of paper over the can, but I just used permanent marker and it worked fine for me!

The Pin-it has to do with Pinterest Sharon B. It's full of interesting ideas too, but without the conversation you get here. I much prefer Hometalk. In fact I rarely visit Pinterest now that I've found Hometalk.
