When a piece of furniture found on the side of the road didn't work out to refinish I used the parts... The hardware, drawers, and doors each became an awesome project. Check out the first one here...
For this project I used one of the 3 beautiful drawers from this piece. I left the hardware on and decorated the inside of the drawer.
I used sheet music and black board cut to size to fit inside the drawer. Modge Podge adhered the sheet music to the wood. I left the sides of the wood bare so the original patina of the old wood could shine through.
Adding metal ribbon, a small wooden box as a shelf, cork board, and cup hooks, I created a one of a kind organizer. I used a Santa image and pine greenery to create a festive look for Christmas. This beautiful organizer can hang in your entry way to hold keys, keep quick notes, and display photos.

You can see the finished product and all the details on the Homeroad blog. You will never look at a piece of furniture on the side of the road the same again. Do not pass up a piece you can't use... the parts may be worth more than the whole!

Don't forget to visit Homeroad to see a few other interesting projects that came from this side-of-the-road find!

I can't believe you couldn't salvage that piece. I salvage things in worse shape than that. Man

@Renea Roberts the wood was thin, cracked, and it had no bottom... it wasn't worth the trouble Renea. I try to salvage even the worst pieces but this one was more valuable to me for it's parts.
