How to DIY lazy susans?

I want to have a lazy susan in my refrigerator for condiments instead of having to constantly moving through them to get the ones in the back of the shelf. I store water bottles & salad dressing in fridge door so I put my condiments, like soy sauce, mustard, horseradish, etc. on the middle shelf but it's a pain to find what I need and have. And lazy susans seem rather costly. Can I make one for under $5? Because then I'd like one on my countertop for spices too. We have a Lowe's & Menards in town. Any suggestions on how to make one? Plastic or wooden is fine with me.

I'm sure they must sell the mechanism at building stores etc. and then you must have something around the house to use for the top. Look in thrift store, I see them all the time and even if it's the wrong size take the top off and you have the mechanism for cheap.

I suspect it will cost more than $5 to purchase the rotating mechanism alone. For not much more than $5, you can purchase Lazy Susan/turntable at Bed, Bath & Beyond and save yourself the hassle of making your own. The 12 inch Copco brand ($7.99) is what I use in my refrigerator for condiments and the pantry for spices. Some of the plastic Lazy Susan's don't rotate smoothly once they get some weight on them. This one does. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/copco-12-inch-non-skid-turntable/1010932270?poc=100703

Two round cake or pie pans and a few marbles. Pan Marbles Pan Top pan spins easily. Just don't drop or you get to chase marbles all over the floor.

I kept the turn table from my broken microwave. You sometimes find them at garage sales.
