Jack-o-Planterns

At the garden center last year I saw these very cool pumpkins turned planters that I fondly named Jack-o-Planterns. With so much personality and plant material, I knew this would be how my Halloween pumpkins got dressed up for the big day. Instructions and ideas here: www.gardentherapy.ca/jack-o-planterns/

these are so great - I recently saw that if you make cut outs in the pumpkin, you can coat them with a little vaseline to keep them from shriveling.

My 8 year old granddaughter's school is having a pumpkin decoration contest and out of all the cool ideas I showed her from Pinterest, this is the one she chose so next weekend it's off to Lowes to find plants and get this done. After the contest, I told her she can give it to her teacher as a unique Halloween gift.

I love this planter. I have been looking for kale to plant and haven't found what I am looking for. Next year I will definetely start earlier and find a perfect pumpkin to plant. Thanks for the cute idea.
