I have done several, a 1955, 1964, 2-1968's, and a 1983. If the frame is good, you can do a lot!

I have a 28 x 40 double wide mobile that I have totally updated, inside and out. (Including new thermal windows. Great investment) I went to the bare walls...insulated and put in sheet rock. From there it was simply a matter of personal taste. I used a mixture of wallpaper on the top (about 30" up) and paint on the bottom. Every room is differently decorated to reflect my taste and I treated these rooms as if this were a regular house. Insulation and good windows are key to this project.

A friend had a mobile and wanted to update. The walls were paneled. We painted right over the paneling, no prepping. You could still see the lines between the panels but at least it was painted a brighter color than that brown.

I remodeled several rooms in the 1984 mobile I used to live in. The drywall was thinner than normal. In one bathroom I stripped the vinyl coating and plastered over it with drywall mud...turned out fine. Looking forward to seeing your results.
