Found it at a thrift store and the mystery got the best of me, so I bought it. Any suggestions as to what it is? Thanks

I believe that it is a homemade pasta rack.Tip it on its side with racks extending off counter

Could be a device for drying baby bottles or canning jars. Turn them upside down on the dowels and let them dry. Just my thoughts.

@Swan Road Designs That's a good thought. I was going to learn canning soon and would probably use it for that.

@Milknhoneycreations I was thinking of cutting the dowls off and putting them straight in a row and using it for ribbons. Thanks.

I have something similar which I have nailed to my bedroom wall near my make-up chest which I use as a necklace and neck chain rack. It's perfect!! Now, I no longer have them in a basket entangling one another! Yippee!

@Lori Sanders. Wow! I am glad that you chose my idea. I have attached a photo of it. You can choose to trim the spikes a little bit to your choice or you can leave them as they are. In any length you choose, enjoy seeing your favorite neck chains hanging right in front of your eyes. Yippee again!

It's not a pasta drying rack- I have one and they look a bit like that, but this design is not right for pasta. Pasta racks have a singular strip of dowels not a grid work of them. These are made for drying zip lock bags for re-use. You can make them with patterns found on sites, but Ikea and other stores used to sell them, too. Someone above mentioned it and she was right. But please don't try drying pasta on this. It would, indeed, tip over with a load of pasta, because it would already be tipped a bit and not flat on the counter if you put it on its side.

@Debbie Luttrell Drying ziplocks would be a good way to be green. I like the idea of re-using them and this would be a good way to dry them. I just think that wood would get deteriorated from the moisture/water quickly. They would have been better to use plastic, but then again...that wouldn't be green :)

It is a baby bottle dryer. We had one 25+ years ago.... ha ha but to keep those plastic bags and wash / reuse, how about to hold some bracelets and hair bows?
  • Kelly S Kelly S on Dec 22, 2014
I was thinking it could be used to organize pan lids, pie plates, cookie sheets.
  • Karen Wright Karen Wright on Dec 22, 2014
Would be tough to use to hold yarns, spools etc. It looks like an old bottle dryer. But if it looks handmade - by a Dad with a work shop ---it could be ANYTHING-----I like the cookie sheet organizer. The pegs are really even too close for jewelry---the necklaces would get tangled. I think whatever you decide to do w/ it is what it is. Good piece!
