My granddaughter and I want to make a strip quilt for her bed. How wide should the strips be (these will be sewed and cut to make squares) and how many colors should we use?

The smaller the strip, the more strips it takes to make the quilt. It depends on how long you want to work on it. What colors does your granddaughter like?

you can by precut 2 1/2 in strips-but if you can do it yourself, I prefer 3in--strip quilts are great

any size,,,depending on the look you want. BOLD and BRIGHT-larger size strips and squares-for tweens or older.. more girly-smaller.. quilting has totally different rules than clothing. I'c check out a local fabric store for a beginning quilting class or seminar.. 2 things,, use quilting pins- (they are longer) and also seam allowances are different, and pressing .... It will be worth it, they also sell something called JELLY ROLLS, a rolled up coil of fabric, all precut and companion fabrics-colors is a great way to start. then fill in with ones you pick .... WHAT A FUN PROJECT.... to share..
