Just make sure you never use the styrofoam egg containers.Burning Styrofoam containers release harmful chemicals into the environment.

Such a clever idea! Those charcoal bricks really fit well inside the carton and it's really convenient for camping.

I used to have access to sawdust from the table saw where I worked and would mix sawdust and paraffin in a bucket and fill the egg cartons with it to make our own fire starters, I really liked to do that because I could mix in essential oils and make them scented or add cinnamon and cloves at christmas...I quit doing it when the cardboard cartons stopped being so readily available and I even tried making newpaper "logs" with it before I quit all together....It was just messy to do with ...»
newspapers, and as I've said the eggs all started coming in the "foam" cartons....But yeah this is one more great idea...

My husband makes firestarters with parafin wax and sawdust. He uses an old cupcake tin and uses paper cupcake holders. Add sawdust to fill cup to 3/4 full to pour the wax over the top. They make starting a fire so much easier.

My girl scouts make these but we use dryer lint and pour wax on top and just break off one or two to start our fires noneed for lighter fluid or "quicklight" brands.

What a good idea! I haven't used briquets for years, since we have a gas grill, but I'm off to Wally World to pick some up for tomorrow nite's party around our firepit. :-)
