Vintage Inspired Christmas Mantel

Pieced Pastimes

From time to time, I find myself longing for the simpler times of yesteryear. I wanted to capture that feeling with our Christmas mantel by using a few salvaged treasures from days gone by.
I created 2 separate vignettes for our extra long mantel.
A weathered Morris chair back (turned on it side) was used as the starting back drop for the firebox side. Gold ornaments were tied onto copper ribbon and draped from the rungs of the chair. A rusty antique toy roller and some pine branches completed this vignette.
A primitive Douglas Fir tree with a burlap covered root ball, an antique oil lamp stacked on some vintage books and a much loved teddy completed this side of the fireplace.
I tied a bow on the tattered teddy bear using the same copper ribbon as on the ornamental swag. It tied the two sides together nicely.
