Tree Stump Coffee Table

Last year I knew I needed something different than my plain ol' coffee table. I had this vision in my head for forever about getting tree stumps and using them instead. The hubs thought I was insane, but now he absolutely loves them :) ....which is saying something.

You can keep these natural without painting them or paint them whatever color you want. All it takes is some sanding, painting, and sealing!

Check out my post on the how to: http://www.thriftyandchic.com/2011/06/wood-s...

I have a bunch of stumps and thought about doing this but the thought of the creepy-crawlies inside the stump scared me away. You have me reconsidering!

Great idea! I'm sure all the painting and sealing gets rid of any crawly things.

this is a great plan. I did it last year for an outside birthday party...got some stumps from my woodman and used them for my guests to sit on. All free!

Add a round glass top and it really would be a great coffee table outdoors or inside. A taller stump and it is a small dinning table.

I love this and have been thinking about doing the same after Sandy downed so many huge trees in my father-in-law's yard.

    Very, very nice!

I really like this idea. Last spring I went to a home tour where the new owners were the grandchildren of the original owners. They used an wood from an old oak tree in the yard that had to come down and made an end table, a ceiling and some flooring. It was beautiful.

Eventually won't this dry out too much and start to fall apart. I love this idea though, when we bought our house there was a very large tree stump about 4' high that they never removed. It was an old large maple I think, so I hollowed the center out and planted various hens and chicks and some trailers in it. It looked very nice for a few years but then it decayed.

When I went and ordered my Custom made Cedar Log Bedroom set last summer the Man had an absolutely Gorgeous Table he had made from a cedar log he had cut into slices ( don't know what else to call them) sealed very well and had made cedar log legs and had Cedar Log chairs for. The table was big enough for four. this was aa fantastic dining or game room set. Soon as I save more money up I am going to to have him make me a set. P.S he has REALLY great prices too. I got my whole set for about ...»
