I have a dresser with a ruined marble top, what can I do?

I have sanded it & painted it. The top still shows etched spots. So I sanded again & filled in with wood filler. I thought it was fine until I painted again & the etched rings are still there.

I would seek professional help. A granite/marble counter top provider in your area may be able to grind the top down and re-polish it

If you have an automotive/body paint shop in town, look for a 3M product called Acryl-Green Spot Putty. It's like Bondo, but comes already mixed. Stinky, but doesn't sink when painted (hence why it's used on autobody work).

Can the marble be removed and turned so that you are now using what was the underside of the marble?
