Painting hardwood floors

Instead of replacing, I'd like to paint my maple flooring. There are a lot of scratches and dings which wouldn't be so obvious with a darker color. Any ideas?

    Satin black
  • Before painting Maple flooring I would think about refinishing the floor. If you ever go to sell, having a hardwood/maple floor is going to be an attractive plus to a buyer. Floors get a lot of wear and tear and painting floors is not an easy fix- it takes time to prep and to paint the floors. If you want a temporary fix I would check the aisles of your home improvement store for Minwax (or other wood) products that can help you camouflage the scratches and dings. Painting will show everything. good luck

When dealing with wood damage, I use Watco Danish Oil. It comes in a range of transparent colors. Going a shade darker usually helps to hide issues better than using the same color.
