Ceiling fan has stopped working, can this be repaired cheaply?

I have a beautiful marble looking ceiling fan that was bought from an electrician who had advised his customer that it wasn't suitable to be installed into their conservatory due to it's weight.
Unfortunately I no longer have their telephone number.
The ceiling fan looks stunning but unfortunately the motor has stopped working but it is so unusual and suits the whole decor of my bedroom and I am a Disabled lady who is unfortunately bedridden since April this year.I was wondering whether anyone knows if this could be repaired.I have never seen a ceiling fan like this before in any of our local Home improvement stores and it definitely looks like it was expensive.
I would like to have the fan in working order by our next summer months but even if it can't be repaired I would never change it as I could never afford a new one like it in my life time. It's a pity that I'm posting this question in the early hours of the morning so can't provide photos to show you how beautiful it is.
Could anyone advise me of any solutions apart from the obvious to replace it?
I live in the United kingdom and survive on a very low income, the fan was originally listed on our local eBay site.
I'd be extremely grateful for any suggestions.
Many thanks and a Happy New Year to Everyone in the United Kingdom.

I'm having the SAME problem! I think we just need to switch out the motors. Better than buying a brand new fan. Esp one that you may not like as well as the other one. (that's my issue)

Mine just gave up working properly, just want to take it down and replace with newer one in kitchen. But after wrecking my leg I need a handyman, I am no good on ladders for awhile now. Need two to do, one at switch box in utility room to say when electric off to old fan and when to turn back on switch.
