Painting Windows & Doors

Front Door Makeover

Lots of folks said don't do it...that usually makes me want to do it more, and this was no exception. This door was so dark it disappeared. Now it POPS and looks so clean and crisp! Updates the front of our house by years. The hardware looks great too...no need to change. I am now in love with my front door! And it only cost $40.

My husband gets the credit for the work...he painted it for me yesterday. Pretty warm up here in Michigan.

I can actually see our door from the road, where before it looked like a brown shadow.

Your front door looks great. Isn't it amazing how paint can change everything?

It looks beautiful! And it also makes your windows & dormers pop too! It is amazing how a small change can make such a huge difference! Glad you "Gotter Done" (southern redneck language)! Ha! :)

Yes! Those dormers do POP now don't they!! :) It's strange-the house looked bigger to me when I pulled up today too. Thank you Pat & Caitlin!

That's why I seldom ask what others think before I do it!

I enjoyed hearing everyone's opinion on this project because I honestly did not know what would look best. Just couldn't picture it white. I thought long and hard over this one. Thank goodness it worked...we really didn't want to make it worse, or paint it again.

It looks like you used gloss paint. What brand/finish did you use?

The white pops nicely! And yes, trick or treaters will certainly know where to go to collect their candy this year. :)

Behr Ultra from Home Depot -Ultra Pure white-semi gloss (I prefer shiny). It looks good enough to eat...haha-you get the idea!

I love this idea! Our front door is stained a dark brown. It looks nice and elegant, but it doesn't POP. And I really like POP! :)

It does look much more noticeable now! And the glossy finish was also the right choice! I like it!
