How To Create a Faux Transom Window

Here's an easy way to add a little drama and character to an old house window. When we purchased the farmhouse we completely remodeled the kitchen includint the window. We spent most of our budget on countertop and cabinets and hardware.....so I came up with this easy project to add a some architectural interest without breaking the bank! Simply frame out the window with 1x6's caulk and paint. The before picture is worth the price of admission alone.

I love this! And one day, we will use the trim we got to do this over the Summer. It's living in my hallway right now.

So bright, so airy...it looks HUGE. At first glance I thought this was a kitchen in the French countryside. Lovely.
