I love those beautiful blue Bud Light Platinum beer bottles that are on the market. I have friends that have been saving them for me as I’d like to make something for the summer. But for now I came up with a quick recycle of one of these bottles for Christmas. I first let it soak in hot soapy water for an hour to clean the bottle and to remove the labels. There are three labels and after this soak they easily pull off. I used a little Goo gone to remove the sticky residue left behind. Now I have a clean slate. My plan is to paint a winter scene on the bottle. I begin with faux snow textured glitter paint .
Ready to paint on the snow
I started at the base, making a few drifts of snow. I went around the entire bottom of the bottle making the snow really thick. This will need to dry for 24 hours but I did finish the project since I wasn’t going to be coming in direct contact with that snow. Now get out your acrylic paint. It’s time to paint a Christmas tree! I really can’t draw but somehow I managed to paint a tree. Although not perfect I went ahead and poured out a few colors of acrylic paint and using the end tip of a paint brush, made ornaments all over the tree.
I then added a star in glitter gold acrylic.
Ready for falling snow
Again taking the textured glitter snow and the end of a paint brush I dotted snow all over the bottle
Snow is falling
Now grab some micro lights and place them in the bottle. I hung the battery pack outside the back of the bottle letting it rest on the table. I had a star bottle stopper so I used that on top.
Ready to light
Now go ahead and turn it on and place it where it can be admired or perhaps gift it to that beer drinker friend who gave them to you! Shhh don’t tell, that’s exactly what I’m going to do!!
